KOMEN TISSUE BANK
COLLECTION EVENT

200 Heroes. One Day. Global Impact.

November 14, 2026 | Fort Wayne

Breast cancer research cannot move forward without understanding what healthy tissue looks like!

A healthy tissue collection event will be held in Fort Wayne in partnership with the Vera Bradley Foundation and the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Susan G. Komen Tissue Bank.

The Goal
Collect small amounts of healthy breast tissue from 200 women and men to build this groundbreaking research resource.

Why This Matters
The Susan G. Komen Tissue Bank is home to the only normal breast tissue biorepository of its kind in the world.

By studying normal tissue, researchers can:

  • Identify the precise genetic differences between healthy and cancerous cells

  • Understand how breast cancer develops

  • Advance prevention strategies before disease begins

  • Study differences across genetic ancestries

This is how we stop cancer before it starts.
