Letter From the Executive Director - April
An update from the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer.
Fort Wayne, Indiana (April 25, 2012) — I’ve had events on my mind a lot lately, and for good reason. We completed our fiscal year by making a $2.7 million contribution – the majority of which came from events and event sponsorships – to the breast cancer research team we support.
There were 143 events nationwide in 2011 to benefit the Vera Bradley Foundation. That’s a lot of partying with a purpose. And we are so grateful to all of the hosts and participants. Something magical occurs when our supporters gather to celebrate their shared commitment to ending breast cancer. They are fueled by each other’s passion and they’re inspired to make things bigger and better in the following year.
Now, our team is deep into the planning for our 19th annual Vera Bradley Classic Women’s Golf and Tennis Tournament. I have no doubt it will be another amazing affair (though that flash mob will be hard to top). With more than 650 participants, 300 volunteers, 130 sponsors, and nearly $1 million raised for breast cancer research, it’s always a weekend to remember. And in 2012, I’m delighted to announce, we will host two Classic weekends to remember! We will hold our usual event in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and then we are taking the first-ever Vera Bradley Classic on the road to the beautiful Charlotte Country Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. We invite our friends (and future friends) to save the dates: June 1 – 4 in Fort Wayne and October 15 in Charlotte. Stay tuned for more details as our planning continues to develop.
We can’t wait to double the fun and, most importantly, to keep raising awareness and generating support for breast cancer research in 2012.
Sincerely,
